Very quick one, as I’m at work with my 2 year old twins, who are gradually wrecking the place.

I thought you’d like to see a little project we’re working on to get Brightcove video onto Apple’s mobile devices. As official Brightcove Technology partners, we’re very fond of their easy to use (though a tad expensive) video platform. Suits a lot of our corporate clients down to the ground. Brightcove have a very nice API, which is what we use for uploading from Videoboo to their service.

So we thought we’d try the download (read) side of the API and on an iPhone to boot! Now, on the web, all Brightcove videos are served as Flash, which doesn’t work on the iPhone for a variety of reasons but mainly due to its need for a fairly heavy duty processor. However, if you upload H.264 video to begin with, you can choose for them to be used as your source within the Flash file, which means that when you pull that content down to an Apple mobile device it simply sends the raw video file without the Flash stuff.

If you’re bored by now, just watch the video - Brightcove content on the iPhone/iPod touch.
