We are a small tightly knit team at the moment, comprising of developers. designers and generally clever people. We’ve just started the exciting transition from a full R&D phase to a fully product focussed one. Our management team consists of people drawn from this bunch and some key new hires.

Mark Rock | Founder & CEO

Mark Rock, Best Before’s founder, was previously co-founder of design & technology company, Static 2358 Limited.  As well as running a successful broadcast design agency (FilmFour, Channel 4, Sky One and Star TV in Asia), Static owned & operated the interactive TV games Channel, PlayJam, on Sky & Cable in the UK, TPS & Canal+ in France and Cablevision in the US. Static had successful financing rounds with Sky, HSBC and Casenoves before being sold to iTV middleware provider Open TV in 2001 for $60m.

Previous to Static, Mark was Creative Director at The Fantastic Corporation, an early broadband IP business. Mark has a degree in Film & Photography from the University of Westminster.

Jonathan del Strother | Chief Techology Officer

Jonathan del Strother joined Best Before in February 2005 as its Chief Technical Officer and has been instrumental in defining the core architecture behind the Millicent product. His knowledge of both web and hardware programming languages has enabled Best Before to recruit the right team to work across these disparate mediums and to communicate its internal aims to staff successfully.

He is proficient in a range of programming languages, particularly Ruby and Objective-C, and has experience in developing for Mac, Windows, and web platforms.  Immediately prior to joining Best Before, Jonathan developed CoverFlow, an innovative visual music browser that was integrated into Apple Corps operating system for computers and iPhone.

Jonathan has also worked on extensive MoD projects at AMS and BAE Systems, developing the new command & control software for the Type45 Destroyer ship.

Jonathan graduated in 2002 with a First Master’s degree in Cybernetics from Reading University.

    Hi, found your stuff from Mark’s comments on 38minutes. I like the look of StudioM - would love to beta it for you. ;-) We have an online video project that needs something simple like StudioM to top and tail created content easily. It looks so good.
