You may recall we were busting a gut about 5 months ago to get live tv working in the web browser on the iPhone - without any application installs (always a barrier to a good user base). There’s a video of our first attempt here. We managed to keep that stream going for precisely 3 minutes and 22 seconds until everything fell over and died. Horribly. It was something (I’m told) to do with byte-range requests, so, like good developers, we filed a bug report with Apple. And waited. And waited. And then the 3G phone came out (suspect they were busy) and we finally got a response:
This is a courtesy email regarding Bug ID# 5945524.
We believe this issue has been addressed in OS X iPhone 2.0.Please let us know whether or not you continue to experience this issue with the newly released software by updating this bug report.
So, in a week or so, we’ll have some free time to see if that works. We already got agreement to use a certain UK channel’s Astra feed, and the test iphone webpage is here (login is iphone and milly08), so let’s see what happens.
